What is an MOT?

An MOT Test is a series of safety checks that all cars over three years old must pass yearly to prove they are roadworthy. It involves dozens of checks on your car, ranging from the brakes and tyres to lights, mirrors, seat belts, windscreen wipers and exhaust system.


When do I need an MOT?

When your car is three years old from the date of its registration it will need its first MOT test. It then needs to be retested every year on the anniversary of its last MOT test, this can be found on your MOT test certificate or on the GOV.UK website.


How long does an MOT take?

An average MOT test takes between 45 and 60 minutes however it may take longer should you vehicle fail.
